STAN LEE's How To Draw Comics
~~ click on the image for bigger views ~~
Hello guys,
I am so happy to finally be able to reveal this sweet little gig I did a few months back. I was asked to draw a wraparound cover for the limited Hardcover edition of Stan Lee's new "How To Draw Comics".
STAN LEE!
The MAN!!!
I don't know what else to say... maybe "'nuff said"? :D
The Hardcover is published by Random House in collaboration with Dynamic Forces, has 224 pages, will be available in November and it will retail for $75. I think a paperback version will be available as well (I didn't do the cover for it though ;))
Cheers,
Francesco

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
~~ click on the image for bigger views ~~
Hello guys,
now that the series has been announced at SDCC this past week, I can finally reveal that I was lucky to be invited by dear friend and director Steve Gordon to do some storyboards on MARVEL's "THE AVENGERS: Earth's Mightiest Heroes " animated series. This gave me the chance to draw THOR (below is a teaser from the boards I did) and company and I enjoyed it quite a bit :)
Wil make sure to give more updates when the show is on air.
Meanwhile here's the link to the trailer they released in SD.
Cheers,
Francesco

GUNDAM!
~~ click on the image for giant ROBOT view ~~
I hope you will allow me to go down Nostalgia Lane for Day 4 of Giant Robot Week :)
One of my fave robot show has always been GUNDAM, and not just for some of the coolest robot designs around, but also for the realism of the stories: a really good and well thought show, hands down.
And speaking of Gundam and nostalgia, here's an acrylic painting I did 17 (!) years ago: man, do I feel old...
Hope you dig it the same, even if an "ancient" piece of art ;)

Francesco

Daredevil / Bullseye
~~ click on the images for larger view ~~
Hola guys,
I was inspired by this week SHADOWLAND #1 and next week Daredevil issue and decided to do this. I am not sure if somethign like this have been done before (and if it has, I apologize for repeating it), but I thought it was a cool fun way to depict the long time duel between Daredevil and Bullseye :)
I got a little dizzy while drawing it ;)
Hope you guys enjoy it :)

Francesco

aNDy
~~ click on the image for bigger views ~~
Hello guys,
Still in robot-mode here (we will be in that mode also next week ;)), so let me tell you about my favorite robot EVER: aNDy!
I created aNDy back in 2006 and my dear friend (and super-talented writer) Macon Blair helped me to flesh it out (if you have read the story, you know that is some sort of pun ;)) for Ivan Brandon's anthology 24/7 vol.2.
I WARMLY suggest you guys to find that anthology because it's chockfull of great little stories, including the one featuring the coolest (and saddest) robo-gorilla ever: aNDy.
Above are a couple of concept sketches, and below one of the pages from the story.
Hope you guys enjoy these and don't forget to enter your suggestion in the contest (see here)
Cheers,
Francesco

~~ click on the image for bigger views ~~
Hello guys,
while we wait for the big super sized Giant Robot Week next week, here's some random robots to get you in the mood ;)
First, an ASTROBOY commission I did earlier this year (me HEART Astroboy, was used to watch the cartoons when I was a kid :)).
And then some silliness I thought of yesterday, while cleaning my mailbox: SPAMB0TS! :D
Hope you guys enjoy these and don't forget to enter your suggestion in the contest (see here)

They Are Coming...
~~ click on the image for giant WALLPAPER view ~~
They... WHO? You ask.
The GIANT ROBOTS! Yep, in July I will have finally a Giant Robot Week :)
I had planning to do one for such a long time, so I am very happy to finally do it this month :)
It's not gonna be next week (gotta some work to do) but def it will happen in July.
I am also taking 1 suggestion (already have a few robots lined up) so feel free to throw in your favorite robot suggestion by replying to this post: you guys have a week from now. The winner (the one I will decide to include in the gallery) will receive a signed archival print of the chosen robot.
Rule #1: if you see already entered the robot you liked, then pick another one that has not been entered yet. There can be only one winner so if there are multiple entries of the same robot, I will only consider the first one who entered it.
Rule #2: this is GIANT ROBOTS week, so try to suggest giant robots (mostly from Japanese anime) instead of small robots (like C3PO, for example).
EDIT!!!
Rule #3: please enter only 1 suggestion/name. For multiple names in the same post, I will only consider the first one.
Rule #4: check the above chart to make sure your entry has not been named yet. Also: small robots will be in red and mostly likely not considered for the grand prize.
PRIZES! Since there are so many great suggestions, I am thinking to add a couple of extra prizes for runner-ups, randomly picked among all entries: the prize is a large archival print of the group shot of all entries (like the one above, insilhuetts, but compelted with allt he robots suggested during the week) :)
Same print will go to the winner as well, in addition to the single robot one.
Of course, please spread the news: the more the better :)
Alright, everyone is ready? GO! :)
Cheers,
Francesco
