To celebrate, here's a couple of Doctor WHO's offering.

The first, titled "The Landing" is just an exercise on cinemascope and horizontal scrolling - click on the image above and you'll see what I mean :)

The second, below, titled "Guess WHo", is a jam piece I did with my uber-talented friend Dan McDaid: you can see his pencils here.

Happy Birthday, Doctor Who! :)

Not-at-NYCC Sketches

Click on the image for the larger BIG POSTER!!! ;)
Rh

As you might know by now, I had to cancel my attendance to NYCC this week due to workload. It's a bit of a bummer cause I've never been at that show or in NYC at all, so I was looking forward to it, but these pages need to be drawn so...

So, if you were planning to go to the show and you were hoping to get a sketch from me, I wanted to give you a chance to do so even if I am not gonna be on the convention floor physically: just contact me via email (no need to reply on the blog or on twitter - only emails count) at info (at) francescofrancavilla (dot) com with your sketch request. (all skethces will be one character with some bg, fully inked - see above con sketch of the Fly)

I will be replying to the first 10 people who will send me an email and I'll give all the details for paypal payment - once the payment is through, you will be officially on the sketch list. I am also planning to take 2 or 3 additional requests randomly from request #11 and up, so even if yours is request #24 you still have a chance.
Cool? :)
This is for domestic shipping only - US resident only.
Will do something similiar later on for International request.

Good luck, everyone :)

EDIT: 3.35 pm - Closing the request/email window.

Thank you so much everyone for the great warm response :) We have the top ten (who have been contacted already) and we have plenty of runner-ups to pick 2-3 randomly from. All runner-ups will receive an email later today, so if you haven't been contacted so far, it means your email/request is #11 and up. Still a good chance to be picked so fingers crossed :)

Cheers,
Francesco

The Swamp Thing

Click on the image for the larger BIG POSTER!!! ;)
The Swamp Thing

hi guys,

I posted the following news on Pulp Sunday yesterday (with a different image/artwork to go with - go check it out!), but I thought to make the announcement on my sketch blog too for those of you who don't follow Pulp Sunday and showcase the above sketch/lobby card I just drew this afternoon :)

~~~~
This has been announced a week ago or so all over the web, but I wanted to officially announce it here on Pulp Sunday, so here we go :)
I am part of the new creative team, along with writer extraordinaire Scott Snyder and supertalented artist Yanick Paquette, behind the re-launch of DC's SWAMP THING in September. We are adopting the same formula used in Detective, with Yanick taking care of the main story and me alternating art chores with him on issues that will tie in with the main story.
All I can say is that I am VERY excited to be part of this. I love Scott's writing, that's no secret, and I love the Swamp Thing. I have been a huge fan of Bernie Wrightson since forever, so working on his creation is one of those dreams come true :)
So, come September, make sure to pick up a copy of the new Swamp Thing: Scott, Yanick, and I are cooking a special Cajun dish for y'all :)
Meanwhile I hope you guys enjoy the above little portrait of our beloved guy :)
Cheers,
Francesco
Well, today I am sharing the whole finished page, so you have a hint of what to expect from #879 next month in stores :)
Hope you guys dig it :)
After the Memorial break last week, BBC America was back with new Doctor Who episodes tonight, so here's today installment: "THE ALMOST PEOPLE" (gotta say the last 2 minutes really had me saying "wait, what??!?" ;))
Hope you guys enjoy it :)
Just saw the new episode of Doctor Who on BBC America and I absolutely loved it except... for the fact that is a two part story and the second part will be aired in 2 weeks (can't wait that long, BBC!!!)
Here's my spoiler free mini poster (which apparently scares my wife a bit ;)) for this episode: a whole 10 minutes start to finish.
Hope you guys dig it :)
Cheers,
Francesco
Since evryone seemed to dig the idea to make this a weekly thing (connected with the weekly airing of the episodes on BBC AMerica), here's my 15 min quick sketch of the 4th episode of Dr Who: The Doctor's Wife, penned by the talented and awesome Neil Gaiman.
Hope you guys enjoy this as much as you enjoyed the episode :)
Cheers,
Francesco
Inspired by today's date, that's all ;)
Cheers,
Francesco
EDIT: took a break from pages to do some Jason sketches :) (click below)
